Happy New Year!

I just wanted to take a minute to wish everyone a very happy and safe New Year! There won't be any celebrating going on around here.It is hard to stay up late when Mark has to be up at 4am to get ready for work and leave by 5am and when you are getting older like me you just can't stay up too late...LOL.I am making spaghetti for us tonight and we will watch some tv and I am sure be in bed by 10:00.I know we will be woke up at midnight because we always hear the New Years Shooters that come through from Cherryville.I hope 2009 will be a great year for all of us!
Blessings in 2009,
Tammy

A great Christmas and a relaxing weekend

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. We had a great Christmas!I was so busy right up until Christmas Day and there was alot of running here and there but it was all worth it!We enjoyed being with our family, eating lots of good food and watching the kids open their gifts(even though they are not little anymore,13 and 16).We recieved alot of nice gifts too.I was so ready to get the Christmas tree down and all the other decorations put away so I spent all day Friday doing that.We were going to take down the outside decorations yesterday but it was raining so hopefully we will get to do that tomorrow.I left out my snowmen.I leave them out until Feb. I will also leave out my outside snowmen and my old sled that is on my porch.
I have spent the weekend just relaxing. It has been really nice because it is not too often that I get a whole weekend to do nothing but relax.I do plan to work on some stitching today.I have been thinking about Valentines Day and what to make for the new year.I already have some Valentines Day things ready for the Sassafras shop in West Jefferson and will be making some more new things for them so that means I get to plan a trip there in the next couple of weeks!I will try to post some pictures of the things I make for Valentines Day.I hope everyone will enjoy the rest of the weekend!

The big day is almost here!

I can't believe it is only 2 days until Christmas!I finally finished making those gifts I have been working on and got them wrapped yesterday.Over the weekend I made some goodies for us to munch on....party ham sandwiches, vegetable dip(thanks Barbara,it is so good!)and potato chip cookies. Now Mark wants me to make a cheeseball....I am not sure it that is happening...LOL.I can't believe that I have the whole day to just relax and do whatever I want to do.I don't even have any housework or laundry to do,finished it all yesterday. So today I am going to have a fun day.I am going to go visit my friend Judy at her shop,Country Comes Home in Hudson,NC and we are going to exchange Christmas gifts.I will treat myself to lunch while I am out and I need to stop by the grocery store on my way home....gotta get those last minute things.I am going to enjoy the day and rest as much as I can because tomorrow I will be spending the day in the kitchen baking and getting things ready for my family's Christmas dinner. We will be going to my in-law's Christmas Eve night to eat and exchange gifts. My MIL always makes us chicken and dumplings....YUM!!She will only make them at Christmas so we always look forward to that!I will be up very early Christmas morning to finish making things to take to my Mom's.We have dinner around 2:00 and then we exchange gifts.Somewhere in all this Mark and I will exchange gifts.I am sure that when we get home Christmas night I will be ready for a hot bath and some sleep.I am not sure if I will get any computer time in the next 2 days so I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Delicious cake recipe

Hi everyone!
I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.I am trying to but I have been so busy.I had to go out shopping today.I had one more gift to buy and I had to get some stocking stuffers.I am so glad that is done.I went grocery shopping so now I am stocked up and have everything I need for Christmas Eve and Christmas.I am trying to finish up a couple of gifts that I am making and hope to get those finished over the weekend.I have not wrapped one gift so I am going to spend tomorrow wrapping gifts.I also want to bake some cookies and make some goodies for us to munch on over the weekend.Speaking of baking....I just had to share the recipe for a delicious cake that I had at my friend's Christmas get together. It is called Holy Cow cake and holy cow is it good! Here is the recipe:
Holy Cow Cake
Ingredients:
Devil's Food Cake Mix
Small Caramel Ice Cream Topping
Sweetened Condensed Milk
8 oz. Cool Whip
Bake in a 9x13 pan.Bake cake according to box. While cake is hot poke holes in it and pour the caramel ice cream topping over cake but save some for top of cake.Next pour sweetened condensed milk over cake.Cover cake and refrigerate overnight. Before serving cake top it with Cool Whip and drizzle some caramel topping over the Cool Whip.

This cake is so moist and so good and it is easy to make too!I am making it for Christmas.
Well it has been a long day so I will go for now.I hope everyone will have a great weekend!

Fun day yesterday and a new adventure

I am behind in posting but I just had to make a post about my fun day yesterday. My friend Sundae and I left out early yesterday morning and headed to the mountains to go see Barbara at her shop Cabin In The Woods as it was our last trip going there for Barbara is closing her shop and moving onto new adventures in the world of primitives.I will so miss making things for Barbara and shopping at her primitive shop....it was the best!I had a really nice visit with Barbara and I got to do some shopping so that made me happy and Sundae did alot of shopping and that made her very happy but I don't think her hubby will be too happy when he finds out...LOL.Oh well,he will get over it...LOL.Barbara gave me a really nice gift.If you are reading this Barbara,I couldn't wait and opened it on the way home.It was full of all kinds of nice goodies!I love everything! You were too good to me!Thank you so much!On the way back from Barbara's we stopped at a shop in West Jefferson. The shop is Sassafras. They have a little bit of everything....country,primitive,antiques,hooked things, rug hooking supplies, and they also give rug hooking classes. The owners are a Mother and daughter...Delores and April. They are really nice ladies. My friend Sundae had bought some of Delores' hooked creations so we had to stop in and see what she had.We all got to talking and Delores asked me if I would like to put my primitives in their shop.It was a big surprise to me but it made me feel good that she liked the things I made and wanted to put them in her shop.So I am giving it a try.If you are ever in West Jefferson please stop by Sassafras and if you are ever in Elizabethton,TN go by Corner Nest Antiques and look for Barbara's booth...you can't miss it just look for a little log cabin.I hope to get to go see it real soon!

Christmas At My House....Outside

Finally I am getting some time to make a post and post some pictures of my outside Christmas decorations. It looks much better at night with the lights on but I think you will get the idea.It was so cold the day we decorated outside that I just wanted to hurry and get it finished and get back inside where it was warm.I made the snowman basket that hangs by the front door.I love my gate that I bought from Barbara at Cabin In The Woods. Her husband Giles made it.I decorate it for all the seasons and holidays.I think it is my most favorite thing in my yard.I hope you will enjoy seeing my outside decorations.

I love decorating for Christmas

This really is my most favorite time of the year.I love decorating for Christmas.I used to really go all out and decorate just about every room in my house plus the outside decorating but I am getting older and I think I have started to think that less is more...LOL....especially when it comes to putting it all away...LOL.I know I still have alot of decorations but I really did not do half as much as what I usually do.So finally I am posting some pictures of my inside Christmas decorating.I have lots of handmade ornies on my tree and all of my Santas, snowmen and pillows are handmade, some made by special friends, some I got through doing swaps and others I have bought at shops or online.I will post pictures of my outside decorating tomorrow.I hope you will enjoy seeing my Christmas decorating.

My kind of day

Today was my kind of day.It is rare that I get these kinds of day so I really enjoyed the day.I slept in until 8am which is nice since I get up at 4:15 every morning to see Mark off to work.I watched some tv and had waffles for breakfast, the quick kind that you just pop in the toaster...LOL.I did a little housework and laundry so I didn't look like I was totally lazy today...LOL,and then I headed to my sewing room for the rest of the day.I love days when I can just sew with no interruptions.I was working on Christmas gifts and I got alot done so that made me happy.I didn't even have to cook today. My sweet hubby made chili and it was so good and it will be even better tomorrow and better yet I don't have to cook tomorrow! All in all today has been a pretty good day!I am going to try my best to add some pictures of my Christmas decorating tomorrow.I am loving blogging and really appreciate all the nice comments that I have recieved.I hope everyone will continue to come back and visit my blog.
